Symptoms that deserve to be taken seriously

Perimenopause and menopause affect everyone differently. If any of these feel familiar, you’re not imagining it — and you don’t have to work it out alone.

Hot flushes & night sweats

Sudden waves of heat, flushing or sweating — during the day or at night — that can disturb sleep and leave you feeling drained.

Sleep problems & fatigue

Trouble falling or staying asleep, waking in the early hours, and a tiredness that rest doesn’t seem to fix.

Mood changes, anxiety or low mood

Feeling more irritable, tearful, anxious or flat than usual — often without an obvious reason, and not like your usual self.

Brain fog & poor concentration

Losing your train of thought, forgetting words or names, and finding it harder to focus on things you used to do easily.

Irregular or changing periods

Cycles becoming shorter, longer, heavier or less predictable — often one of the earliest signs of perimenopause.

Joint aches, low libido & vaginal dryness

Aching joints and muscles, changes in desire, or dryness and discomfort — common symptoms that people often find hardest to raise.

ANON

Menopause service

‘Brijesh runs a desperately needed Menopause clinic, the only one in the area. He was able to see me the same day I asked, and spent well over an hour with me, carrying out a full private consultation, resulting in an immediate treatment plan. After being passed from pillar to post by unhelpful, unsympathetic and ill-informed GPs, it was a breath of fresh air to be heard. Brijesh is very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, attentive and empathetic. He went above and beyond to help me, setting up appointments and answering all my questions, providing a wealth of advice and guidance. I only wish I’d known about this sooner! Definitely value for money, though still a crying shame such service isn’t more widely available or on the NHS. Well worth it.’
